Relit & Restored

Posted on April 14, 2014

Our newest infatuation: this beautiful 1920’s bridge neck floor lamp.

It found us in a gloomy, dark state over the weekend.  Since it wasn’t in working condition when it arrived we sent it over to our shop. After a bit of much needed tlc, she is as good as new. We are so in love with every inch of the turned wood tube and the cast iron base. After much debate we’ve decided to leave the lamp without a shade to accentuate all of the lamps twists and turns. We are not sure we’ll ever be able to part with her!

Blossoms & Blooms: A quick guide to vases

Posted on March 20, 2014

Today is the first day of spring, and here at Canvass we couldn’t be any more excited for the turn of the season. Spring brings fresh flowers, vibrant colors, lush foliage, and not to mention warmer weather. There is so much to celebrate with the coming of the season; do you have any spring favorites?

We can’t think of anything more enjoyable than a fresh bouquet to start off the season. A couple of flowers in a mason jar and instant ambiance. Do you put your flowers in a mason jar, a vase, or something else?

Yellow & orange marble bud vase

From the classic ceramic to modern glass, there is a vase for every taste. Vases date back to ancient Greece to as early as the 2nd century. They’ve literally been around for ages. Vases at that time were customized for goods that they sold and varied based on the region they came from. Now vases are a staple in every home, and have a versatility that is insurmountable. Besides being used to hold flowers you can use a vase as a terrarium, candle holder, DIY lamp, utensil holder, planter or as a trifle dish. The possibilities of using a vase are endless. How do you use yours?

We hope you have a spring in your step entering the new season. Check back to see how we’re doing and how we’re using vintage and salvage pieces to bring life to our world.
